|Juliana Mrabet, Center Director
Juliana Mrabet directs the INTERLINK Language Center at St. Ambrose University. With over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience, she has spent the bulk of her career facilitating the startup and development of English language and other educational programs in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Qatar, Iraq, and the United States. In both teaching and administering, Juliana emphasizes critical thinking, cross-cultural understanding, and self-reliance. Her research has probed the nature and impact of the stereotyping of Muslims in western society, reform in higher education, and the adoption of innovations in Middle Eastern societies. Fluent in French, Spanish, and Arabic, Juliana holds the University of Virginia PhD (Comparative and International Education, specializing in Applied Linguistics and Middle East Studies) and the University of Tennessee MS in Foreign Language Education.
|Jordan Schneider, Administrative Assistant
Jordan Schneider is INTERLINK at St Ambrose University’s new Administrative Assistant. Her passion for education and lifelong learning led her to apply to INTERLINK. Prior to joining INTERLINK, Jordan taught Political Science, Contemporary World Issues and ESL at the local community college and St. Ambrose. Jordan holds a Master’s in Diplomacy from Norwich University and a Post Master’s Certification in Homeland Security from St Joseph’s University. She is currently working on a second Master’s at Al Huda University where she is also a part-time adjunct faculty member. Jordan believes that the ability to communicate cross-culturally is key to success in any profession. She understands the level of commitment required to master a new language as she is currently learning Arabic. Jordan is also an active volunteer. When not assisting new INTERLINK students, she is the Emergency Manager for the Muslim Community of the Quad Cities, a member of Team Rubicon, and the local Communities Organizations Active in a Disaster of the Quad Cities.
|Elizabeth Fate, Instructor
Elizabeth (Liza) has been an instructor with INTERLINK Language Centers since 2012. She taught for three years at the INTERLINK Center at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and one year with an INTERLINK program in Saudi Arabia. She is happy to now be teaching in her home state of Iowa. Liza received her MA in TESOL from the SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, Vermont. She completed her BA in Modern Languages, including a study abroad experience in Spain, and has since had many experiences working with people of diverse backgrounds. In addition to teaching with INTERLINK, other experiences include: teaching at a preschool for children of homeless families in Washington, DC, working at a public school in Iowa, and interning at an Intensive English Program in Massachusetts. Liza enjoys teaching at INTERLINK for its commitment to student-centered learning and its authentic approach to successfully preparing students for academic life in the US.
